NEWSLETTER No. 7  (14th February 2014)  Newsletter 7 14th Feb 2014

 Dear parents and carers

As this half term comes to an end, there are a few notices to share.

We have been very excited with the auditions which have taken place in years 5 and 6 for the half term filming. The main characters are Molly Kean, Jack Mardell, Lucas Bradshaw, Jacey Hyam and Cameron Macey  but more children will be needed for extras and we will be able to show the completed film to the whole school.

Safer Internet day on Tuesday was a huge success with every child creating a poster with the important E-safety messages. During the course of the day, the children participated in drama, made games, and watched short clips teaching them how to stay safe when on line.  The work that the children have produced  has been amazing.  We have also been blown away by the enthusiasm and knowledge that the children have shown whilst working in the various classrooms during the day.  Please note, all children should have brought home a leaflet to advise parents/carers on E-Safety.  We were pleased to welcome around 30 parents and their children who attended a very informative ICT workshop after school. We are always aware that timings for attending our events are important so I have included a short questionnaire on the back and I would be grateful if you could drop it into the office.

After thinking carefully about access to our busy car park, we have decided to open our back gate each day at 3.00pm. This allows you to park around the Hawthorne or Poplar Grove area off Tournerbury Lane. We hope this will relieve some of our congestion.

The children are bringing lots of Pokemon and football cards into school. To support their enthusiasm with these cards, we have created a lower school and upper school card club.

Children in years 3 and 4 can bring cards into school in a Tuesday and children in years 5 and 6 can bring cards into school on a Thursday.

We hope this will enable children to have fun and keep their cards safe.

A little reminder, the school grounds are strictly a NO SMOKING zone.  Therefore could parents please not smoke while they are on our premises, this includes the school car park.  Many thanks.

We are collecting Nestle Box Tops tokens and Sainsburys vouchers if you have any please, just bring them to the school office, thank you.

And finally…we would like to take the opportunity to celebrate the fabulous homework produced yet again this half term. School will be open between 3.30pm and 4.30pm on Monday 24th February if you would like to come and view the work.  We would love to see you!    Newsletter 7 14th Feb 2014    Please click on the link to see the rest of the newsletter and photos.

 Warmest regards

Wendy Bolton
